Dear Town of Walworth Sewer Customer,
As you may know, the new Western Wayne Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility in the Town of Palmyra is nearing final completion with wastewater flows from several communities being received for treatment. This new WWTF will be owned and operated by the Wayne County Water & Sewer Authority, and the operation of the Town sewer system, including billing for sewer service, will also become the responsibility of the Authority.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you as a new customer of the Authority and to provide you with some information regarding the timing of the first bills from the Authority, in addition to information on how the Authority will bill you.
A final bill will be sent to you from the Town on or about October 1st, 2025. That bill will be due and payable to the Town as it has been in the past.
Starting in January 2026, you will receive your first bill from the Authority which will be delivered along with your water bill via the postal service on the same post card. You will no longer receive a bill from the Town. Sewer rates for single family residential customers in the Town Walworth of will be a flat fee of $60.00 per quarter. (Note: you will see two-line items on your post card: a line for water and a line for sewer).
One benefit of this unit-based system is that incidental and seasonal water use such as lawn watering, pool filling, and irrigation will not impact your sewer bill.
For non-residential customers, sewer charges will be based on the same formula that is applied for calculating EDUs for debt service charges on your annual tax bill. *(Equivalent dwelling unit)
As an example, a commercial business that is assigned 4 EDUs for debt service would be charged 4 times the $60.00 quarterly charge.
Please see reverse side of this letter for payment options, which will also be included on your Authority bill.
We encourage you to call us at (315) 986-1929 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
The Water & Sewer Authority Staff
