Ginegaw Park Restrooms have been closed and winterized for the season.  They will re-open come Spring.  The gates leading to the rear of Sherburne Road Park are closed for the season as well.  Guests may still enjoy Sherburne Road Park and it's trails by parking in the small parking lot next to the gates and using trail spur across the road.

A Note From Walworth Recreation

Fall is in full bloom! For the first time as we write this we are completing a true “Winter” Town Topics. Our past Fall issues spanned early Fall through late Winter. We hope this additional fourth issue provides a more timely capture of what programs, opportunities, and events lay ahead for the season and makes planning and registering for the activities a tad easier. This fourth issue also allows us to better highlight what opportunities are on the doorstep for the community. Overall we think it’s a win for everyone!

While it was a little more condensed this time around we still enjoyed a wonderfully successful Halloween Party in the Park and Pumpkin Walk. It was great to see so many smiling faces and amazing costumes take over the park for an afternoon of fun and evening of food, trick-or-treating, and music in the twilight. Next year we look forward to bringing back carnival rides and some of our other past activities the current climate made difficult this time around. Thank you to everyone who helped us out during the afternoon and evening to bring back one of our favorite days of the year!

Light The Night is just around the corner! We still have a few trees unspoken for so if your group, organization, or team would like to decorate a tree in our annual competition please let us know! Join us on Saturday, December 4th from 6pm-7:30pm to vote for your favorite tree, grab some food or a hot drink from our vendors, pick-up a take home craft from the Walworth-Seely Public Library, visit with Santa safely in the Lodge, and hang-out or roast marshmallows around our fire pits! We’re still working on some additional fun as well! It’s the perfect community-led way to kick off the holiday season!

Letters to Santa also returns this holiday season! It’s one of our favorite traditions and we’re very excited to have it back. Please be sure to view information for sending or dropping off your letters on the back cover of the Town Topics or by visiting our webpage (https://townofwalworthny.gov/letters-to-santa/).

This time of year is always bittersweet as we say goodbye to our seasonal Parks employees until the Spring. While the idea of seasonal employees isn’t anything unique to a municipality the quality and dedication of our seasonal staff certain is. Mark Kritall and Dave Barmaster aren’t just our long-time season staff, they’re really part of our Parks and Recreation family and we’re so fortunate to have them and for all the little things they do. We don’t usually get a public chance to thank the people behind the scenes who really keep us afloat. A huge thank you to both of them and even though we know we’ll see them around still the Spring can’t come soon enough!

Facility rentals for the 2022 calendar year kicked off in October during our Lodge Lottery. Things ran pretty smoothly (we hope anyway!) and we appreciate everyone who came and took part in the lottery. The books are officially open for rentals spanning the 2022 calendar year and while we do have a fair amount of dates already reserved there’s certainly some prime dates still out there! Give us a call and we’re happy to check on a date for you and walk you through the reservation process!

We look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming programs and events. As always if anyone has any concerns, ideas, or just wants to come check out our updated offices downstairs and chat, don’t hesitate to call or stop by! We hope you all enjoy a healthy, happy, holiday season!
